Writing?

Writing all together is a process. I have never been interested to really learn about that process, its crazy to me that authors, poets, columnists; can sit down and write for hours and come up with something amazing. To me writing is responding to something or someone, its decision making, and it is linear. A lot of people think writing is an isolated by yourself type of thing, but its very much a social act you are connecting to your audience and the world around you. No talking, just writing thoughts and letting others respond to those thoughts.

  1. That's an interesting viewpoint seeing writing as a social act. I agree that writing thoughts and ideas down is a good way to express oneself.

  2. Good point! Writing is not something you do in isolation anymore. It is now a social act. texting is the way a lot of people communicate now.

  3. Definitely a different point-of-view on writing. Maybe with this and the other required composition classes you can begin to see writing as more than just something that you do socially. Many times in life it is easier to communicate your true feelings by words put on paper (or screen!), rather than attempting to get your point across with verbal communication. At times your nonverbal parts of communication, and the "noise" involved, gets in the way of you truly expressing yourself effectively. Good luck, and enjoy the many writing assignments to come!
